Description
Over the past decade, vocabulary learning has shifted from traditional paper-based methods to digital flashcards, with gamification enhancing engagement. While many studies have looked into the general benefits of digital tools, there is still a significant gap in understanding how university students perceive and use platforms like Quizlet in the Vietnamese context, particularly in specialized English programs like IELTS preparation. This study examines the perspectives of three university students from different majors who attended an IELTS class incorporating Quizlet. Findings indicate that students value Quizlet for its flexibility, interactivity, and support for self-paced learning. Quizlet's spaced repetition and gamification features improve vocabulary retention, motivation, and self-directed learning. Additionally, students emphasize its role in exam preparation, progress tracking, and study organization through automated feedback and categorized folders. To effectively integrate Quizlet into Vietnamese universities, they recommend early exposure, structured digital storage, and assessment via automated feedback to optimize learning outcomes. This study provides insights into technology's role in vocabulary acquisition and offers practical recommendations for incorporating digital tools into English education in Vietnam.
