Description
To meet the rising demand for specialized English for Specific Purposes (ESP) materials in the field of cultural tourism, there are some existing resources, such as textbooks, magazines, and periodicals. Nevertheless, there is a lack of English Vietnamese corpora that can serve as a practical tool for vocabulary retention, language skill learning, and translation competence. This study presents the English Vietnamese corpus specifically designed for ESP Cultural Tourism and its use at English classes at the University of Foreign Languages and International Studies, Hue University (HUFLIS). The research was conducted in ESP learning in classes involving 150 students. With both qualitative and quantitative approaches using questionnaires and face-to-face interviews, the study presents the way to use this corpus and some benefits and challenges of its use. From the obtained results, it is suggested that the English Vietnamese bilingual corpus of Cultural Tourism should be used as an authentic material to improve students’ ESP learning, translating/interpreting competence, and advanced technological knowledge as well.
